Spring films rotation
Spring time!! My favourite time of the year to submerge myself in classics. All these are listed according to a certain feeling. I like to watch and read media according to season, so enjoy!!
spring is all about fresh starts for me, it’s a time where I eagerly immerse myself in films like rom-coms and uplifting films, classics that radiate warmth and positivity although most of these have some pretty intense, sad scenes. It’s all about the scenery, vibe, mood and feelings.
spring movies
Pride & prejudice (2005)
Pride and prejudice has a lighter tone compared to some of Jane Austens other works. It’s a perfect atmosphere of spring. The witty banter, romantic and comedic moments infuse this film with a sense of warmth and joy that align with the ‘spring’ feeling. It’s all about growing, weather it be love or the flowers it fits perfectly. I have so much love for this classic. The scenery is incredible, the movie is full of beautiful countryside scenes. It’s so picture perfect.
Little women (2019)
This is not necessarily a spring film, but i regularly rewatch this around march, spring is all about reading and watching classics for me which makes this a perfect fit for this list. Watching this after finishing the book is the ultimate combo. The vibrant costumes to the picturesque scenery, Little Women is so visually stunning and expressive in a way that feels close to the classic spring feeling. The greenery, blooming flowers, and soft pastel colours create a visually appealing backdrop that captures everything i can’t put into words. The march sister’s bond and unwavering support for each other also mirrors warmth and closeness, it’s truly a celebration of sisterhood.
Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women, is beautiful and she is such a genius for all of this, she offers a fresh perspective on the classic story. Just as nature comes alive in spring, so do the characters in Little Women. Whether it's Jo's pursuing her writing career, Meg's journey into motherhood, or Amy's artistic ambitions everything lives and everything evolves into something much bigger and even greater. Everything falls into place.
Lady bird (2017)
My teenage classic, all along those years of growing up. This film when it came out in 2017 was everything I needed to see and hear. It’s like everything fell into place. If you’ve read my post about La La Land. You know by now i’ve always wanted to become an actress, writer or director. But a lot of things held me back. Spring is a time for new beginnings and that’s what’s lady bird is all about. She’s eager to break free from her small town and chase her dreams in the big city. This film is so me in so many ways and a must watch for me around the spring time, to remind myself that i will be just like her one day and that everything will be okay.
10 things i hate about you (1999)
This is one of my favourite ‘feel good films’, it is so light hearted to me in so many ways. Spring feels light, easy, calm with a sense of warmth so it is the perfect time to start watching feel good films. Alone or with friends. They’re so uplifting and funny, I can watch this film over and over again. The relationship between Kat and Patrick, along with the playful banter between other characters, captures the feeling of love in the air during springtime, it’s the outdoor settings, full off sunlight and surrounded by greenery, it gives off the feeling of freedom and possibility that comes with spring. 10 Things I Hate About You captures all the energy of high school life, which is a mix of certain feelings. It leaves me with a sense of joy and optimism, just like the arrival of spring ends my winter blues. The happy ending leaves me feeling so hopeful!!
Matilda (1996)
I think what makes this film so spring is Miss honey. Her kind heart and gentleness makes the movie so light. Despite facing a lot of problems in her own life, miss Honey radiates so much positivity. She creates a safe environment for Matilda and encourages her to embrace who she really is. She also loves nature and finds so much beauty in the countryside which also further enhances her spring-like aura, Miss Honey embodies the essence of spring with her kindness, she is a beacon of light in the lives of those around her, much like the first signs of spring after a long winter. Miss honey is everything you need as a mother, friend, sister or daughter. The time Matilda spends with the wrong “parents” feel like an endless winter, but slowly when miss honey changes her life it becomes spring. This is my favourite childhood movie ever.
Tangled (2010)
As well as a lot of other disney movies this one in particular gives me all the spring vibes, it’s simple but everything i need for something to make me feel good. It’s pretty self explanatory.
About Time (2013) & The Notebook (2004)

Two romantic classics where time plays an important role, i religiously watch these in april around my birthday to remind myself that time flies by. I don’t have a specific reason for these to be on the list other than this nostalgic feeling i have around my birthday, lucky me it’s in my favourite season so it’s has just been a tradition that i watch these two films. They give me comfort and discomfort at the same time. It’s good to balance out all the uplifting movies with two beautiful but sad romances. Both films dive into complex emotions and explore the highs and lows of romantic relationships with honesty and authenticity which i think is so beautiful. To be able to write about love like that is so special.
13 going on 30 (2004)
Spring reminds me of my childhood so much, this is why 13 going on 30 is a perfect fit. The film's portrayal of friendship, loyalty, and innocence reminds me of the simple joys of childhood and the importance of maintaining strong bonds with friends.
Becoming Jane (2007)

The english country side, always reminds me of spring. There’s Something about Jane Austen’s stories that make it a perfect watch or read. i find myself rewatching them when the sun shines again. Something even better is reading her books mid-end spring and as summer comes you finish them. It’s so nostalgic, i do this all the time. I would definitely recommend you read the books before watching the films. This is one of my favourite book adaptations ever!! just like pride & prejudice.
Past lives (2023)
This is a spring film, and you can’t convince me otherwise. It’s nostalgic, it feels poetic, it’s everything and more.
The Virgin Suicides (1999)
A very beginning of spring movie, it doesn’t make it into the list of winter films because of the scenery, but it is as depressive as the winter. It’s one of my favourite films from my favourite directors, Sofia copolla. While the film primarily takes place during the spring, it is not typically categorized as a "spring-like" movie due to somber themes. It features elements of spring but the themes and tone are far from uplifting or celebratory. In this film spring is portrayed through scenes of blooming flowers, vibrant colors, and the promise of new beginnings. Even though spring looks pretty in the movie, there's a melancholic feeling all around. Spring's beauty makes them dream of a better life….. and i wish they had it.
Notting hill (1999)
Notting hill, my favourite bit of london. i revisit Notting hill every spring. To wonder around and go to the bookshop. Everything about this movie makes me feel amazing, it’s so spring. And a classic for me to watch during this season!
Atonement (2007)
For the last one, Atonement. Director Joe Wright beautifully brings McEwan's novel to life on a screen, with incredible visuals and beautiful cinematography it creates a mesmerizing atmosphere. Wright has a lot of attention for detail and that is very evident in every frame, with again beautiful shots of the english countryside, that reminds me of everything spring is.
i wonder how many times i wrote the word spring in this post! well anyway!! please like, share, restack and don’t forget to 👇🏻
